9 Steps to Creat a New Blogger Background

First know this, You'll need to have two tabs opened on your browser at the same time to make this process simpler. In your first browser window You'll want to log into the dashboard of your blogger blog and click on the layout tab. I also want to add that these instructions are to change the background on a Blogger blog.
In your second tab you'll want to find a background hosting site that has gobs of cute backgrounds to choose from. I really like www.TheCutestBlogOnTheBlock.com and these images come from that site.
Now head over to the tab you have opened with YOUR blog info.
Once you have clicked the Add a Gadget button you'll see a screen like the one below, scroll down.
 Select the HTML/JavaScript button.
Now hop back over to the tab that has your fun blog background on it. Highlight and copy the HTML code.
Now for the last time you'll go back to your tab with the HTML/JavaScript box open and paste your HTML code in the Content box. I leave my Title box empty, if you put a title in you'll see that it shows up in your blog format when your posting.
Now be sure to Save your work that you've done and you should be sporting your pretty blog background. I've always found directions and great tutorials on the different blog background design sites and there are many out there to choose from.
After all, blogging is about expressing a bit of yourself, might as well have a pretty blog background to represent you as well.
Happy Blogging!

My Kitchen Shelfs

Let me start by saying I LOVE old things! These have been in our garage for a long time. Their old window trim. Aren't they Gorgeous?! I wanted to use them in our house as a shelf. So I did a little sanding and painting and their hanging in our kitchen.
Here's they are in our Kitchen this past spring.
Here they are decorated for our daughter Lilian's 6th Birthday
They purpose almost as a mantle would, easy to decorate and so much character.
And here they are last Fall. Seeing this picture makes me wish I wouldn't have painted my kitchen grey light blue. It was supposed to be grey but who knew it was so hard to match. I'm getting the itch to paint again.
Have a great week!

Bow Tie Soup {A Family Favorite}

A Few years ago I had a featured post on I'm a Lazy Mom, of one of our favorite family recipes. This is my go to quick (just 5 ingredients and about 20 minuets till its ready) Soup on chilly day.
INGREDIENTS:
  1. 1/2 pound Hamburger
  2. 1/2 of a small chopped Onion
  3. 1 16 oz bag of Bow Tie Noodles
  4. 1 Can Italian Chopped Tomatoes
  5. Hand full of Cheese

DIRECTIONS:
Brown 1/2 a pound of Hamburger with half of an onion finely chopped. As your hamburger is cooking you'll want to start a pot of water with 2 chicken bullion cubes. Once boiling add 1 16 oz pkg of Bow Tie noodles. Once the noodles are cooked add one can of Italian Chopped Tomatoes, to the noodles along with your browned Hamburger. Serve warm and top with Cheese.

Colorado Flood

There was a tremendous about of flooding last week in Colorado. It's so sad to see all of the destruction! My mom took some pictures of the flooding near my childhood home and it has broke my heart. The above photo... Our house sat on the hill towards the right, but the mass amount of water was the big horse pasture.
The water flowing over the road is unbelievable! On either side of this road was a approx 5ft deep ditch. The water flowing is from the St.Verain River and as you go down the river a bit it meets with the Platte River. This photo was taken facing the North.
And the photo below is the same road now facing the South. I would say the flood waters from this one stretch of road would be close to 3 miles wide.
Prayers are stretched out to all of the families who have been effected by the flooding.
Cast thy burdens upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee... Psalms 55:22

From Drab to Fab Backpack

Mandy really wanted one of those over the shoulder backpacks for school this year. We shopped way early for bags and got them on sale, which I was super excited about because my kids have wore theirs out in the years past. So we found this plain black over the shoulder bag for $3.00s! But we wanted to make it pretty. Mandy did a great job on it!
We used some silver puff paint and she made a design. We then sprinkled with purple glitter. After it was all dry we cut some new ribbon for around the zipper pulls.

And it's perfect! I love that she made it and was super proud of herself!

Being a God-Pleaser, not a man-Pleaser

I recently read an article on Joyce Myers website that really spoke to my heart in so many ways. Here's a little bit of it...

1. Never say or think negative things about yourself, such as, "I never do anything right." "I'll never change." "I'm ugly." "I look terrible." "I'm dumb." "Who could ever love me?" Matthew 12:37 says, ...by your words you will be justified..., and by your words you will be condemned…. Proverbs 23:7 says, …as [a man] thinketh in his heart, so is he. In other words, the way we talk and think about ourselves reveals how we feel about ourselves.
2. Speak good things about yourself (as private confessions) in line with what the Word says about you. For example: "I am the righteousness of God in Christ." "I am made acceptable in the Beloved." "God created me and formed me with His own hands, and God doesn't make mistakes." I like starting the day making good confessions. Perhaps you can do this while you're driving to work or cleaning house. I also encourage you to look in the mirror and say out loud, "God loves and accepts you, and so do I." You may even try hugging yourself. This is beneficial to people who have lacked love and acceptance in their lives.
3. Never compare yourself with other people. God must love variety or He wouldn't have created us all differently—even down to our fingerprints. You'll never succeed at being yourself if you're trying to be like someone else. Other people can be a good example to you, but duplicating even their good traits will manifest differently through your individual personality.
4. Focus on your potential instead of your limitations. Actress Helen Hayes was told early in her career that if she were four inches taller she'd be the greatest actress of her time. Her coaches tried various methods of stretching her, but nothing increased her height. She refused to concentrate on the supposed limitation of being five feet tall and decided to concentrate on her potential. As a result, she was eventually cast as Mary, Queen of Scotland—one of the tallest queens who ever lived.
5. Find something you like to do that you do well, and do it over and over. If you spend your time doing things you're not good at, it'll frustrate you and cause you to feel defeated and unsuccessful.
6. Have the courage to be different and deal with criticism. Be a God-pleaser, not a man-pleaser (see Galatians 1:10). If you dare to be different, you'll have to expect some criticism. Going along with the crowd—when you know in your heart God's leading you a different way—is one reason people don't succeed at being themselves. You won't like yourself very much if you go against your own convictions.
7. Don't let the way another person treats you determine your worth
8. Keep your flaws in perspective. People with a high level of confidence have just as many weaknesses as people without confidence, but they concentrate on their strengths—not their flaws or weaknesses.

In so many ways I feel that I have to please others, when in reality I need to be pleasing God and not worry about others.

I love number 5 as well.... Find something you like to do that you do well, and do it over and over. You often see those people who are the happiest or most successful do what they love. That may mean being a realtor, wife, photographer, teacher or mother. Thinking back a few weeks to a speaker who was at our church, she said to be intentional. We've all heard that practice makes perfect and this 100% applies to #5, do it over and over = making you great at what you love!

Have a great week!

{DIY} New Headboards for Lilian & Cadence

Now that my girls are in school I started a new DIY project.

Here's the end result! I think it looks great and the girls faces was priceless when they came home from school and walked into their room.
I've made several things out of this old picket fence.
I made a frame out of some old wood that was in the garage and brackets that I found.Did some measuring and screwed it all together. I love the rustic look!

The girl's dresser was revamped a bit as well. Much better for two cute little girls!

Happy Grandparents Day!

We are so lucky to have some of the best grandparents! I love seeing these photos and seeing how different each of their styles are and how being able to have them all in our lives is what creates such great kids, memories and lives.
We have 12 Grandparents and Great Grandparents that are in Mandy, Lilian, Cadence and Owen's lives. Not many families can say that - what an honor. Although I don't have photos of all of them here, they are all greatly loved!
