{PLANNING} for our 2nd Bathroom

Happy Friday!
It's always fun to get to the end of a work week. As we are looking to this weekend I have something in particular on my mind. Our 2nd Bathroom!!!!!!

We've lived in our home for 6 years and slowly we have been recreating the upstairs and finishing the basement.

During the past 12 years we have added 4 kids to the mix of our lives and it's come to the point that a second bathroom is on our "MUST DO" list. Our 3 girls are getting bigger and are to the point of monopolizing our one bathroom on the main floor.

The fun part for me is I can start planning and deciding what I want that bathroom to look like. I have a very specific idea in mind of what I want the finished product to look like. But a few unknowns are still there.

Bathroom Floor:
It is a basement after all. So there are concrete floors. I'm leaning towards staining the floors. I'm not in love with this color though. Thoughts?!
I also love the look of this ceramic wood tile. I think it would be beautiful on the floor.
 Vanity:
I'm feeling very confident in the area of a double vanity. Our girls are 10, 8 and 6 and I know that the extra counter space would be welcomed as they get older. We do have the square footage to do this too so that makes it more obtainable.
I love the raised sinks! But I am more in love with the old dresser turned into vanity (Now to find one that fits my ideas).
Lighting:
These lights are just the best! Rustic, but are they TOO rustic?!

 Shower:
This subway tile is so yummy! I love the timeless appeal of it with the dark grout.
(I know for sure I want a stand up shower downstairs).

But on the other hand a shower insert like this is clean, less upkeep but not sure if it's the ideal look I want.
 Ceiling:
This bead board ceiling and beautiful trim is exactly what I'm thinking. It has the charm of an old home and a cozy feel.
The fun part of this weekend is we're starting the framing process. Far from finished but the wheels are spinning. Have a great weekend my friends!

5 Tips to Cut the Clutter

The Holidays bring a surplus of clutter.
There is the wrapping paper, gifts that need to be wrapped, gifts that have been unwrapped, toys everywhere, baking supplies, handmade diy projects and everything else that goes with the hustle and bustle.
This year BE PREPARED!
Organize the little stuff with envelopes.
Organize the Little Stuff - All of the little pieces of paper such as receipts, should be put in envelopes labeled and all placed in a basket or in a file so you know where to find them when a gift doesn't fit.

Clean out the closets and donate before the Holidays.
Donate - There are so many people in need and we as a society have SO much. Clean out your closets, kids rooms, clothes that don't fit, that extra coffee pot under the cabinets or anything else you haven't used in the last year. Wondering where to donate to? I found this excellent list of 101 places that would gladly accept your Donations. Think local as well, I know of several places in our area that accept donations year round.

Americans spend over 3 Billion Dollars per year on Wrapping paper.
Wrapping Paper - Before you spend a small fortune on wrapping paper this year evaluate what you already have. Find a way to organize it. I made this wrapping paper holder a few years back and it's done wonders for me.
Set a budget and know who your buying gifts for this year.
Know What to Buy - My kids in particular are so blessed with Grandparents who spoil the heck out of them for the holidays with toys. Knowing this it greatly helps me to plan what I'll be buying for my kids. I like to buy things that are needed and useful. There are many Christmas Trackers out there so print one off and be prepared to use it.
Christmas decor is beautiful but takes up a lot of space.
Rearrange Your Home - Christmas decor is what makes the holidays fun. A bright tree, Christmas stalkings hung by the fire and a wreath for the front door. With all of the extras you might find your house feeling to tight and restricted especially with extra guests that may be visiting. Plan ahead with the placement of your decor.

Hiding our Utility Panel

We've lived in our home for 6 amazing years and I have yet to find a way to hid this ugly, huge, utility panel in our laundry room.  It's such an eye sore. Our laundry room has an odd set up. From our kitchen I can see right into our laundry room and this is what I see. Not idea!

So I've been thinking and searching and pinning ideas and ways to hide this large, grey, ugly piece of metal. And I think I have found the solution!!!!

I purchased this large old mirror this past summer at a yard sale. I love old mirrors and the texture that they have in them. Because of the wires going to the utility box I decided not to put a screw in the wall for fear of being electrocuted. My solution.... I put a hook into the ceiling and hung the mirror with some chain. Adds a little more eye appeal. I added some visual peace of mind with the old lath board that I glued together to hang my wreath on. The "Winter" sign has been in my home for a few years. It was one of my favorite MOPS projects we've done.
