DIY Leather Essential Oil Diffuser

I'm a huge lover of our Essential Oils! We diffuse, inhale and wear them daily. One place that was needing a little EO love was our car.
I had some scrap pieces of leather that I knew would be perfect.
Use a leather whole punch and punch a small whole in location of choice.
 Add a round jump hook.
 A little "believe" inspiration.
And I used small cord jute so I will be able to attach it to the car vent/review mirror.
Leather is very porous and makes for a great carrier for the oils.
(Make sure the oils you are using are tested for purity and quality and don't fall under the "therapeutic grade myth". The oils I use we get at wholesale and have changed our family day to day).
Hang on your car vent system or rear view mirror.
Enjoy!

9 Inexpensive Summer Activities to do with Your Kids

Summer  is  one of my favorite  times of year! The kids are out of school, our schedule  is more laud back and the weather  is  nice  and  warm!

But... summer seems to fly by so quick so the past few years I've become intentional about doing something  with our kids each day to create  memories of summer fun to look back on.

9 Inexpensive Summer Activities to do with Your Kids

 1. Go turtle  hunting! Our  kids love finding  turtles, sometimes  you come up empty  handed  but other times you find one and its pure giggles and excitement.

 2. Wake your kids up early  to snuggle and 20th the sunrise.

 3. Plant a garden with your kids and  have  them help harvest  it.

We spend so much more time outside during the summer months, be sure to check out my DIY Bug Bite Roll on Recipe and have a few of these on hand while your enjoying all of these fun outdoor activities!

 4. Create  a special  summer  desert  together.

 5. Spend time outside  watching  the clouds  and birds go by.

 6. Let your kids wash your car. It might not be perfect  but the giggles and bubbles are worth it!

 7. Go for a walk to enjoy the warm weather and burn off some energy.

8.  Teach your kids to stop and smell and admire the beauty of the flowers around  you.

9. Play in the puddles! Better yet play in the rain while  it's making puddles.

Simple and virtually free activities are often the ones that our kids remember most, because  you spent the time to do it together.

Happy summer!

Halloween Essential Oils

Halloween is almost here!
With all of the costume picking, pumpkin carving, Halloween parties and Trick or Treating it can be a bit exhausting.

Here's a blend that will help you relax with this cozy, slightly spicy blend.

Halloween Essential Oil Diffuser Blend

4 drops Orange Oil
3 drops Lavender Oil
2 drops Frankincense Oil

Benefits to this Oil Blend
{Wondering what rooms to use Essential Oils in? Check out this recent post on where to use your EO's.}

Orange oil is known to promote good digestion to help with all of those Halloween treats your kiddos will be getting into along with its immune boosting properties to ward off sickness and germs. Lavender oil is very calming and relaxing to aid in helping your little Trick-or-Treaters to calm down and drift off to sleep after an evening of excitement. Frankincense is known to help with anxiety, promoting feelings of peace and love. I love this fact especially with little ones who might become fearful with scary Halloween costumes they might see.

If your looking for a safe source to buy your oils from, check out THESE. They are 100% PURE and budget friendly.

October Essential Oil Blend & Why You should use it!

Essential Oils have become such a welcomed part to our days.
Each season brings different favorite blends for us and for the month of October this Farmers' Market Blend hits the spot!

October Farmers' Market Diffuser Blend

6 drops of Orange Oil
4 drops of Clove Oil
2 drops of Frankincense Oil

Why use this Blend in the Fall?

During the Fall season we loose sunlight and our days become shorter, the temperatures drop, sickness begins to go around and many find they are feeling  a bit down both mentally and physically.
The benefits to this blend are perfect for the season! The Orange oil is very uplifting, immunity booster, that is calming. The Clove oil is a warm, woody scent this also promotes a healthy immune system and to ward off free radicals that cause sickness. Frankincense oil has an earthy scent that also promotes personal wellness and helps to relieve stress and depression.

DIY Bug Bite Roll On

The bugs are in full force right now!
Daily I spray the animals, kids and myself but sometimes we wind up with a few bug bites that are itchy and uncomfortable.

THIS is our go to fix and is one of those things that's simple to make but packs a punch with just three ingredients.
You'll start with 2 tsp of Fractionated Coconut Oil.
Then add:
10 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
*Not all Essential Oils are created equally! If your looking to use Essential Oils or even a seasoned user its important to know the MYTH about Therapeutic Grade.
Then pour your mixture into a roller bottle.
You can find these at a wide variety of places.
I then created and printed off this cute little label.
This Roll on is perfect to throw in your purse, beach bag or first aid kit.
Hope this simple recipe helps your summer to be a little more comfortable!

Creating A Peaceful Home

1 Corinthians 14:33
For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

There are moments in life when we feel chaos! Chaos in our minds, souls, families and homes.
I try to create a home of peace for my family. With 4 kids its often an illusion in my mind Im sure but there are certain things I do that help me to create a peaceful home for our family.

Natural Light
Nature is a direct reflection of peacefulness to me. I leave our windows open to let the natural light in giving that airy feeling.
Entrance
As soon as you walk in our front door you are welcomed by photos of our family. I think this helps to give our kids a sense of belonging. They know they are supposed to be here, are a part of our family and are loved.
Smells
Our sense of smell is one of the best senses we have. Its been documented that our sense of smell is one of the biggest triggers to memories. I like to have Essential Oils in our diffuser that are calming and peaceful or reflect the season. My favorite oils for the season can be found HERE.
Simplicity
I find my own mind is clearer and at peace when I have simplicity in what my eyes can see. Less clutter and toys. Things in their places. Baskets are often found in our home to help keep things in their places and create uniformity. {Looking for ways to use baskets? Check out this blog post.}

My wish for you is that you find your home is a place of comfort and peace. I recently have found areas in our home are a bit chaotic. Join me in the weeks to come as I share how Ive brought peace back to our home and created a balanced environment.

DIY Lip Scrub

Ive been using Lip Scrub for sometime. And there are lots of fun ones out there on the market but they can come with a price tag.

And that's why I wanted to share this easy DIY created with things all in our home.

Mix:
1/8 tsp sugar
1/8 tsp Fractionated Coconut Oil
1 drop Peppermint Oil
( Adding the peppermint oil will add a little extra natural plump to your lips).

Mix all of the ingredients well. Then take a small amount on the end of your finger and scrub your lips generously with it.  (You can keep any left over in a small air tight container).
One of the biggest benefits to the scrub is getting rid of all of the dead skin cells that are on your lips. By removing the dead cells you'll have a much smoother finish to your lips when you apply your
lip stain/stick/gloss.
