Give Us Our Daily Bread

The past few months our bread has been coming home and once it gets in the house it ends up like this...

Just what every mom wants, a loaf of squished bread, or even better two loaves of squished bread.
So I set to work to fix my problem the other day.
I made two loaves of homemade whole wheat bread that tastes unbelievable!
UPDATE: Bread Recipe
  • 3-3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour                         Rise 1 3/4 hours, Bake at 375degrees
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 3/4 water
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
Recipe out of my Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book.

And my squished bread I turned into home made croutons. We go through a ton of croutons at our house and this is such a cost effective solution!
My Crouton Recipe:
2T. EVOO
1 tsp garlic powder
1tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp chives
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Baked in a 200 degree oven  for 30 min or until crunchy.

*Delish!*

We had this DELISH Cinnamon Roll Cake a few nights ago. So much quicker than making Cinnamon rolls and SOO good! I found the recipe on Lil' Luna's site. There are tons of other yummy recipes there too.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Sweet Corn

Mmmmmmmmmmmm.... Sweet Corn... Growing up my mom and I would always put sweet corn up in August. Lots of work but the reward was so great as we ate the produce in the cold winter months.
Now a tradition that I can pass onto my family.

Happy 4th of JULY!

May your family be blessed with a very Happy and Safe 4Th of July!!!

If your looking for something festive and quick to whip up to celebrate the 4Th of July make a quick Cherry Pie! I used some star cookie cutters on my pie dough. I use one of the simplest pie crust recipes:

*Flour (about a Cup)

*Salt (a pinch)

*Warm Water (Around 3 T.)

*Cooking Oil (Around 3 T.)

I'm not good at measuring... Mix the ingredients until the crust is soft and ply -able, similar to play-dough.
