Make the Most of Leap Day 2016

It's a Leap Year! Even though there are no widely celebrated traditions for this day, it's one that should be lived up. After all, it's an extra day that we typically don't get. Why not make the most of it!?

10 Way's to Make the Most of Your Leap Day

1. Write a Letter to Yourself to open on February 29, 2020, predicting all that you plan to accomplish in the next 4 years.
2. Host a Leap Day Party. Serve some of your favorite drinks, a yummy snack and have your kids help make cute decorations.
3. Be daring! Do something that is out of your norm or maybe on your chicken list of things to do.
4. Start a new Leap Day Tradition. Introduce yourself to 4 strangers and explain that its a new tradition to make four friends every Leap Day.
5. Enjoy good company. Make cookies with your kids and invite neighbor hood mommies over for a play date.
6. Call a Friend who you haven't spoke to in years. It's always fun to reconnect.
7. Re evaluate your New Year's resolution. Maybe it's time to get back on track.
8. Get rid of 4 things in your closet that you haven't worn/used and encourage everyone in your home to do the same.
9. Finish a project. I have lots of Pinterest projects that I have started and never finished, the 29th is the day of accomplishment.
10. Try a new recipe. Create a fun new meal for your family and get out the good dishes to celebrate the day as it's winding down.

Johnson & Johnson Cancer Suit

Many years ago I became aware of what chemicals we're in the baby shampoo I was using on my oldest daughter and it appalled me. Since then I've been more aware and cautious when shopping for the products we use in our home.

 On Monday February 22nd, 2016...
...a Missouri jury has awarded $72 million to the family of an Alabama woman who died from ovarian cancer, which she said was caused by using Johnson & Johnson's well-known baby powder and other products containing talcum. {Read the full article HERE}.

There have been dozens of cases against Johnson & Johnson over the past few years just like this one. Including one started in May of 2009, as a coalition of groups called the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics began pushing Johnson & Johnson to eliminate questionable ingredients from its baby and adult personal care products. After three years of petitions, negative publicity and a boycott threat, the company agreed in 2012 to eliminate the ingredients 1,4-dioxane and formaldehyde, both considered probable human carcinogens, from all products by 2015.

The ever growing number of lawsuits against the company reminds me that we do have choices of where we shop and what we use in our homes and on our families.

We as consumers can make a huge impact as we make wiser, more educated choices.

If I We're...

Happy Monday Friends!

We spent our weekend with guests staying here. My kids call them Granny and Grandpa!
It's always fun having family with you, sharing a meal, laughing and sharing stories.
We all know how much I love creating, building and giving life back to things that we're once ugly. If often makes me think... "If I we're to have my own store, I would..."
1. Have a really cute Coffee Bar and serve some of my favorite Coffee for all of my guests. (You can get at it at a major discount too, check it out HERE).
2. Create Beautiful Displays of all of my projects and finds.
 3. Use old furniture to display items.
 4. Have beautiful hard wood floor throughout that gives that welcoming sound as you walk across it.
 5. Have a place to build and re purpose right inside the store. (Isn't everything about this photo yummy?!).

Helpful Links to FREE websites for Elementary Kids

This year we have a 4th grader, 3rd grader and Kindergartner. They are learning so much everyday and it truly AMAZES me how quickly they learn!

There are a few websites that are our go to websites after school that have helped my children to continue to develop those skills they are working on at school. I hope you find them as helpful as we do!

This site is helpful for building on their math facts and has a lesson for each day. It's quick, easy and I think very helpful.

This site is designed for K-5th grade and has tasks at each level in all areas of learning.

My kiddos school is linked to this site. Each week they can come here and practice their spelling words with games, tests and fun activities.

This is a site that again, our school is linked too. If you have an account your child can log in and it is recorded back to the teacher. If you don't have an account it's 100% ok as well. It's very resourceful in helping in all areas of learning.

Purchasing Your Own Domain Name

I've been working from home for almost a decade!
(You can click HERE to learn more about that).
Through the past 9 years I've learned a lot and often get asked questions about what to do to better ones home business.

So if your one of those entrepreneurs who's just getting started or maybe a seasoned work at home mom looking for some fresh ideas, this is the place to be each Tuesday.

No matter what kind of business you have you need to have a working website or some online presence. The facts are you'll be able to do business 24/7, reach a wider audience and will see your income/sales grow by having a platform for folks to find you.

With that being said, if you don't have a website...

We're going to take it one step further today. Let's say you have a website. A lot of home based businesses offer sites for their peeps. But it might be something similar to this when you get it....
Do you see how long that is?!
It's time to Purchase a Domain Name!
My domain name for the above website is,
  1. Easier to market.
  2. Branding yourself.
  3. Shows your committed.
Go to (or a similar site) and you'll be able to search for available domains. Most domains will cost under $10.00s for the year. I highly recommend a .com vs. info or any others. And remember less characters the better!

Here's to building a successful brand!

To Be Continued....

 Isn't this window beautiful!?
I think it's stunning, but I love all things old.

A friend asked me to create something new with this piece of history. She was very specific about what she wanted. I am thrilled with how it turned out but it's a gift that my friend is giving and I will need to wait awhile to show the complete transformation until it's been given.

Here's what it looked like when I first received it....

Let me leave you with this quote that is being incorporated with this jewel...
We do not remember days, we remember moments.

Clean Your Home in 10 Minutes

To say time is something that is limited in our busy everyday lives is an understatement!
We all have the same 24 hours in each day but it seems that we're all stretched so very thin that sometimes our homes pay the consequences.

Here's my go to list when it comes to a quick Clean around the house.
{ AKA 10 jobs you can do around the house in 10 minutes or less.}
  1. Take out the Trash.
  2. Scrub the front of your refrigerator.
  3.  Clean the mirrors in your home.
  4. Sweep the Kitchen floors.
  5. Mop the Kitchen floors.
  6. Make your Bed.
  7. Unload the dishwasher. (If that's done you might as well load it with any dirty dishes).
  8. Clean the bathroom counter and sink. (Throw some toilet bowl cleaner in while your at it. I get mine at a discount HERE).
  9. Vacuum the living room floor.
  10.  Sweep your front entry way.
Have a great weekend my friends!

This past weekend we had a little skiff of snow. Just enough for a little sledding behind the buggie :)
Compared to today's forecast this looks so minimal but we all had such a fun day.

Hope you all are staying warm in this blizzard that we're having here in Nebraska!

My 9 Year Work Anniversary

9 years ago I took a huge leap of faith and started my journey working from home with an incredible company. Looking back I'm beyond grateful that I took that first step. I've received a pay-check every month while holding my babies, watching first steps, getting to go to school events, being available to help my husband, paying off debt, creating the best friendships and helping other families just like mine.
Beyond Thankful to be able to celebrate this Anniversary.
Not everyone get's to be home with their family by their side while earning an income!
Be Blessed!
