3 Steps to creating an Inviting Home

Our home's are a direct reflection of ourselves.
We each have different style types, needs and functions.
Regardless of your décor there are three simple steps that you can implement to help your home to feel more inviting.

1. Open the window dressings.
Its so welcoming to come into a home filled with natural light! Not to mention the rooms feel bigger when you can see outdoors.

 2. Add personal touches.
Each style type is unique. I love the simple touches like a well placed pillow, a welcome sign or a favorite piece of pottery. Your goal isn't to over stimulate your eyes with lots of things, but rather to have touches of your personality.
 3. Have living plants.
Plants contribute to the feeling of wellbeing, helping you to become calmer and more optimistic (and that's how we want guests to feel when they walk into our homes) along with a dozen other health benefits.  Plus it adds an additional texture to your space that helps to give more of a inviting feeling.

May your week be blessed and your home inviting!

Enjoy the Little Things

I had the privilege of building this beautiful (3 foot wide!!!) sign recently.
Isn't it a great quote?!
It makes me stop and realize how precious all of the little moments are in life. Even those that seem endless like changing diapers, folding laundry with a three year old and dishes with a six year old. Those are the moments that will one day be looked back upon and never forgotten.

And this photo my sweet Mandy took of me. She has found a new hobby in photography and is learning angels. I love that it shows one of her passions as well as one of mine.

May you be blessed today and do something you enJoy!

To Be Continued....

 Isn't this window beautiful!?
I think it's stunning, but I love all things old.

A friend asked me to create something new with this piece of history. She was very specific about what she wanted. I am thrilled with how it turned out but it's a gift that my friend is giving and I will need to wait awhile to show the complete transformation until it's been given.

Here's what it looked like when I first received it....

Let me leave you with this quote that is being incorporated with this jewel...
We do not remember days, we remember moments.

You are the Sprinkles to My Cupcake

Creating with my hands gives me freedom of the mind, helps to refresh me, equips me to be better and makes me smile!
Here are two super fun 2x4 signs that I made. Aren't they the cutest?!
What You Need to Do:
Prepare your scraps of wood by cutting to size and sanding. Then paint them and distress to your liking. Use your Cameo Silhouette or similar tool to cut out a phrase of your choice and apply it to your block of wood.

It's a fun way to display a piece of wood that would have been otherwise in the trash pile.

Clear Your Mind

This little stinker keeps me on my toes and tests me in ways the girls never have!
At time's I just need to clear my mind as I'm sure every mom has felt before.

So we go outside, Owen plays in the backyard and I play in the Garage.
Being able to create helps me to clear my thoughts and have more focus when we go back inside. I find I'm able to accomplish a lot more as well as Owen being more content!
My passion is being able to help others work from home and have flexibility in their schedules and financial peace, but I also know I can't help others if my mind is boggled.

Being able to do something that I enjoys and is peaceful is so rewarding and helps me to be a better me!

Creating something more...

I've been having so much fun creating for friends. It's one of those things that I find so enjoyable to be able to use my creativity to make beautiful things.
The weather has been beautiful here and makes it even more fun to be in the garage creating and having this little cutie out as my helper...

Finishing up this week will be Life Simplified with Lori and my 21 day Vision Statement Challenge. I found this really fun road map that correlates with Monday's blog post. I love how simply it's laid out. It was found on Pinterest.

White Barn Treasures

This past weekend held such a fun blessing to me! A friend of mine has this incredibly beautiful barn! It's stunning to say the least. And she opened it up for the best craft fair I've ever seen!
The day was filled with great friends, YUMMY food & a beautiful setting.
It also held a new venture for me. I love creating, but... everything I have ever made has been for our home or to give as gifts to family and friends. I was so honored to be able to bring a few of my creations to the White Barn.

One of the biggest reason's I decided to bring a few things was because of a devotional that I read early this summer. It said that God is a Creator Himself. For He created the heaven's and the earth and all that lie between them. Not only that but God wants us to use the gifts that He has given us. That devotional has stuck to me like glue through the past few month's. And what a blessing it has been to have that new outlook on creating!
"...whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
1 Corinthians 10:31
I had the most fun meeting new faces, enjoying getting to know some incredible people and just feeling the blessing of knowing whole heartily that the day was totally in God's hands!

The Day Before:
I took the majority of my creations over to the barn on Saturday and snapped a few pictures of everything before we went home....

Make it a great week!
