The Tools You Need to have Success While Working from Home!

10 years ago this month I started working from home! It has been an incredible journey that Im thankful to be on. No matter what business you are apart of or looking to do these tools will help you in your success!

1. A Day Planner! A must for me is my day planner. I use it all of the time for organizing my schedule. If you are wanting to be successful in business you need to make it a part of your life and calendar out action. 

2. High Lighters! I use my highlighters daily. You would think this is a silly accessory but it truly helps me to calendar out my days knowing when Im doing income generating activities vs. family activities. 

3. Tablet/Computer/IPhone! Technology is such a helpful part of business! I use my tablet all of the time. It allows me to work from anywhere in my home allowing me to be mobile and I love that! A good phone is a must as well for moments when your not at home but still need to be available to your team and business partners.

4. A contact book! A contact book is a piece of your inventory that doesn't cost you much but is crucial. Its so important to have a ever growing list of your contacts. Make notes next to their name, their contact info etc. This will be a great tool as you look back over your career. 

5. Education! Be open to educating yourself! Without growing your knowledge you are like a bump on a log. Just as the internet has changed over the past 10 years so has business. There are always the same steps in building a business but the way you execute needs to be modified at times. Be open to learning new things!

6. Organization!  An expanding file for business reports etc or a three ring binder to keep your documents in order is a simple investment that will help you to keep all of your business needs in one place. 

7. Support System and Team! Work with others who are there to support you daily as you move your business forward! Have an accountability partner. That might be someone in your household or it might be a mentor or team mate. The key here is to make sure you have those around you who will help support and lift you up as you move your career forward. I know I would be lost without my Team! 

8. Know Your Why! Your Why needs to shake you to your core. You need to know why your business is important to you. Why you love it and what its going to do for you and your family.  A dream board is a great way to visually see your why! 

One last tip that has helped me to grow, SHUT THE T.V. OFF! The latest episode of The Bachelor or catching up on The View are a few things that are not helping your business. Prioritize your goals, your why and where you want to be in life and your career.

5 Ways to stay Motivated this Week

Motivation: the state or condition of being motivated or having a strong reason to act or accomplish something.

Do you ever have a hard time staying "motivated"? I've heard that phrase several times through my life in all different situations. Motivation is something that can be part of all walks of life short term as well as long term. To conquer a small task to taking on a big week. 

5 Ways to Stay Motivated this Week

1. Mission Focused Monday: Each Monday morning set 20 minutes aside to reflect on what your tasks at hand are for the week. What you want to accomplish. Write them down on paper so you have a firm vision.

2. Weekly Quote: Find a quote to use as your screen saver or write on an index card that you can keep close to you that will inspire you throughout the week.

3. Be Social: Share your goals with your spouse, friend, business partner that will help to encourage you and hold you accountable to accomplishing your goal.

4. Move it: Have you ever heard a body at rest tends to stay at rest but a body in motion stays in motion? This is true! Move that body - stay in motion and you'll be much more motivated to physically and mentally stay motivated. 

5. Turn up the Tunes: Music is very uplifting and motivating. Think of painting a room, it's much more fun and easier to finish the job if you have some good tunes to listen to.

Clear Your Mind

 

This little stinker keeps me on my toes and tests me in ways the girls never have! 

At time's I just need to clear my mind as I'm sure every mom has felt before.

  

So we go outside, Owen plays in the backyard and I play in the Garage. 

 Being able to create helps me to clear my thoughts and have more focus when we go back inside. I find I'm able to accomplish a lot more as well as Owen being more content!

 My passion is being able to help others work from home and have flexibility in their schedules and financial peace, but I also know I can't help others if my mind is boggled.

Being able to do something that I enjoys and is peaceful is so rewarding and helps me to be a better me!

Do you really earn an income that is worth while?

These are great questions that do need validation for those who have never worked from home successfully. If you do own a business an are able to work from your home you already know the answers. The fact is that 52% of all small businesses are home based. That's HUGE!

1. Time Freedom to set your own schedule  Being able to be the one who waits for my kids when they get off the bus, being able to put them to bed, make cookies with them and be there when they need me is a great feeling. Because I have been able to tailor my schedule around their needs has to be one of the best reason's I work from home.

2. Financial Gain  Helping to contribute to our finances, pay off debt, having extra spending money, pay for our need's in cash are all crucial and often the number 1 reason why people start a home business.

3. Home Businesses Tax Write Off's There are so many tax benefit's! Everything from your internet to a portion of your home owner's insurance.

4. No Commuting I can't imagine driving in bumper to bumper traffic while wanting to be home. I would much rather have my 30 second commute!

5. Being able to spend quality time with Your Family My #1 WHY is my Family! As a little girl I always dreamed of being a mom... By being able to work from the comfort of my home I'm able to be the BEST Mom I can be.

We've all seen folks on Facebook or other social media sites that do nothing but promote their website.

I totally get the excitement of their new business but it does get old seeing the same thing over and over just in a different format.

Here are 3 steps that you can make to avoid getting unfriended, unliked or hidden from others news feed.

Keep the 1/3 Rule in Mind

1. 1/3 Personal Content. Your audience want's to know you and see you as a relatable influence on the social media outlets.
2. 1/3 Value Driven Content. How is your post going to provide value to those seeing it? A great quote, a fact, a helpful blog post or website link. All things that will help those who are following you.
3. 1/3 Business Related Content. With this being said, remember, social media is social. Engage and interact with your following. A link to your website along with a way that you can help your audience through it is what others are looking for.

5 Tax Tips for Your Home Based Business

There are over 4.34 Million Home Based Businesses in the US and the number is growing. Families have found that it's a sufficient way to make ends meet, supplement or even replace incomes.

Whether your a seasoned Home Based Business Owner or Brand New, Here are 5 Tips to help you with your Taxes during this Tax season.

5 Tax Tips:

1. Consider the Home Office Deduction. If you use a portion of your home for business you may be able to deduct that area on your taxes. Generally the amount of the deduction depends upon the size of the space you use to conduct your business.
2. Deduct Traveling Expenses. Once your home is established as a place of business you are then able to deduct mileage as you leave your driveway. Be sure to keep a record of the mileage you have driven. My accountant gave me a special car log for doing just this.
3. Keep all receipts that are related to your Home Business. Everything from your computer, Internet, phone bill, paper, pens, shipping and all other items that you use to conduct business.
4. Set an appointment with your Tax professional early. They tend to get very busy during this time of year and it's less stressful to have your taxes done before April 15Th.
5. Things to remember to take with you for your Tax appointment:

The Basics - Last years tax return, SS#'s of everyone to be included on the taxes along with their birth dates, Amount paid in state and local taxes in 2011.

Forms - All W-2s, 1098, 1099 or Schedule K-1, records of personal property tax or closing documents.

Income and Investments - Other income not related to your above forms (hobby's, alimony, etc.), Expenses related to your investments.

Charitable Donations - Amounts donated to house of worship, schools or other charitable organizations. Records of non-cash donations. Number of miles driven for charitable purposes.

Deductions and Expenses - Number of miles Driven for Medical purposes, amount paid for health care, records for children in higher education, employment related expenses, job search expenses, Records of Alimony paid, moving expenses, student loan interest paid.

Be sure to contact your Accountant as they know your specific needs.

1460 Days of Working from Home!

Today I'm celebrating 1460 days of working from home! 4 years ago I had been searching for a way to help bring in a little extra income for our family. At that time we had an 18 month old daughter and we we're expecting our second daughter.


I never imagined the blessing I would find. Sure the extra income has helped enormously through the past 4 years but more than that I've grown as a individual! I've been enabled to work with some extraordinary women who have enriched my life more than I ever thought possible.

That's 1460 days of hugs and kisses with my girls, having dinner ready for my husband when he gets home from work. 1460 days of growth. 1460 days of playing Barbies and working with great moms.

80th Post

WooHoo - I've been blogging this past year and have so enjoyed it. I can now say that I've officially hit 80 posts!! I'm so excited. So I thought what should I blog about. Well a Passion of mine....

It's amazing how our days become so full, and I thought I would share one thing that I do daily. I work with an awesome group of women, and I've done this since January 2007. You can read my full story on how I found our Team by clicking HERE.

The best part of what I do is change lives! My "job" is to teach other moms how to do online and offline marketing and account set up. My family has been blessed due to the fact that I'm home with them full time and I'm able to add to our income. I feel blessed because I've grown as a person, I'm much more outgoing, I'm able to communicate better, I'm a better mom, and I'm able to teach other moms a trade where they can provide a reliable income for their families. Most of all I have peace! I feel peace and happiness and as if I have a purpose.

I feel as God has opened doors for me to do amazing things and I'm so thankful for it!

Time Zone Help

 I work with people all over the United States and it amazes me that some folks out there don't know what time zone they live in. I've grown up right on the MST/CST zone my entire life - so is that why I'm aware of it? Or did one of my teachers do a really good job sharing the differences with me? I do agree though that it would be much easier if we we're all in the same time zone!


One thing I do love though is no matter what time zone one is in or state or city we all have things in common. I have a biz partner in SD who loves horses just like I do, a biz partner in MI who loves her MOPs group just like I do, a biz partner in TX who is a very strong Christian just like I am, a biz partner in OH who has 4 kids just like I do, and the very cool thing is that I get to work with these everyday Moms and somehow we make the time zone difference work!
