What to LOOK for when Looking to Work from Home!

Looking to Work from Home?

That's something that a large amount of Americans are aiming for and its projected that 50% of the American workforce will be working from home by 2020.

As you start searching for a way to earn an income for your family that allows you to do so from the comfort of your home, you should be aware of a few things.

5 Things To Look For When Looking To Work From Home

  1. Look for a company that is reputable! This is by far my #1 thing to be aware of as your searching. Make sure you partner with a company that has an A+ rating with the BBB.
  2. Get to know the compensation plan! Its important to know what activities are required of you and what your income will look like if you become a part of that company.
  3. Don't buy into the "Ground Floor" opportunities! {Learn more about the "Ground Floor" scheme by clicking HERE} If a company is promoting a "Ground Floor" or "Get in Early" concept, doesn't that mean that the people who join at a later date, will be unsuccessful?
  4. Know how much of your work is truly at home. It was important to me to be able to know I would be 100% home based with my kids schedule. You should know upfront if you will be required to travel, attend meetings, etc.
  5. Be clear on how many hours must be worked each week! Some companies are flexible in allowing you to carve out your own schedule. With 4 kids this is huge for me
Its crucial as your scouring through information that you find a company that is reputable, honest and will provide your family with a reliable income! As I was searching years ago I found myself asking these questions repeatedly making sure I wouldn't put myself in the mist of a bad work environment.

Here's to You!

My Adventure as a Work at Home Mom...

Most know I work from home and have for several years now. But not everyone knows why I do.

My Adventure as a Work at Home Mom was rather intentional and I had no clue it would become a sustainable business that would be with me for the past 9 years.

So here's where it all began ...

Ten years ago we we're blessed with this precious baby girl. I was beyond in love with her! My husband and I lived in a different state and his job there required that he traveled. With this new baby in our home I wanted him to be home more.

And that's what brought us to Nebraska...

A move to a new state, new home, new job. It was a blessing to be close to family and have my husband home each night. But with the move brought a lot of debt due to our previous home sitting on the market for a year and a half. During this incredibly stressful time in life financially, we we're beyond thrilled to find out we we're expecting our second daughter.
With our debt load and living expenses we we're barely squeaking by. I knew there had to be a way that I could help contribute financially to give us some breathing room. That's when I started doing research and digging and learning and finding a way to be home with my babies and help relieve the financial burden off of my husband. I Finally had a Ray of Hope!
Fast forward to present day. We now have 4 babies and I'm so thankful for God's perfect timing! Because of my Adventure as a Work at Home Mom I'm able to live out my dream of motherhood being home with my kids. They have never seen a day in daycare, never had to have a babysitter put them to bed at nights. We have choices. Are achieving dreams.

My adventure seems to change each day with helping new business partners, now tackling multiplication homework with my 10 year old and running a home. The squeaky wheel of financial burden is now well oiled. We have peace as we go to sleep at nights and that right there is WHY I do what I do.

Here's to the next Adventure!

Avoiding Holiday Debt with These Tools

Each year thousands of families rack up on average $986.00 in credit card debt during the holidays. Outrageous! A little planning and being deliberate with your money will get you ahead of the game this year.

Last year I stuck to my guns and used this system and we ended the year without any credit card debt. The tip is to get started right away.
6 Ways to Avoid Holiday Debt

  1. Know WHO Your Buying for. Santa has a list and checks it twice, right?! So why don't we? Start a list of who you plan to buy gifts for this year. Your immediate family, neighbors, teachers and co-workers should ALL be on this list!
  2. Have a Wish List for your kids. My kids are infamous for seeing things in the store or on t.v. and wanting them. We have a wish list where we add things each of the kids want throughout the year. This helps me to know what they are excited about as I do my shopping allowing me to plan a budget.
  3. Budget! A budget comes in all shapes and sizes. You may have a $100 budget for everyone on your list or a $1000 budget. The point is to know how much you are willing to spend for each person, and stick to it.
  4. Shop Smart. I feel on top of the world when I find a good deal! Look for sales, coupons, and if your an online shopper like I am, look into online shopping clubs. Learn more about my favorite one HERE
  5.  Pay with CA$H. If you don't have the cash for an item don't buy it! Use an envelope system and start saving for the holidays. A fun idea is to put every $10.00 bill that comes into your hands into your "Holiday Cash" envelope. It adds up fast and gives a cushion for holiday gifts and traveling.
  6. I saved the best for last! Add to your income. The beauty of not having to worry about holiday expenses has been HUGE for us! As a mom of 4 kids holidays are expensive! Having an additional steam of holiday income has blessed us and enabled us to provide for our kiddos. Happy Monday!

How Many Hours Do I Work?

One of the most common questions I get asked is "How many Hours do you work each week?" or a variation of that question.

I personally feel that in order to be successful in owning your own business you need to set specific hours each week that our devoted strictly to building your business.

TIME FREEDOM

The beauty of owning your own business is you are able to pick where those
 hours come from each week.
I typically work 20 hours each week doing income generating activities. This allows me to devote time to our four kids, making meals and keeping our home running properly.

I often get asked this as well "How many hours will I need to work to be successful?" That is 100% based upon your own personal activity when owning your own business and needs to be in line with what your personal and financial goals are. As a business coach I can help someone create a road map of what one's schedule would need to look like depending on the financial goals needed but it is up to the individual to find the time in their calendar.

One of the greatest advantages to working from the comfort of your own home and being your own boss is the fact that your able to be in control of your own clock. And that my friends is Time Freedom!

Showing Up = Success

Have you ever wondered why some people are so successful and others are not?

In my industry I often hear from people that they don't think they can be successful or that because of past failure they have a insight in their mind that they can never do well again working for themselves. Interestingly, those have previously failed have a 20% chance of succeeding.

The reason for that 20% chance is due to our mindset.

Here are some things to think about when your looking for Success:
1. 80% of success is showing up and being present in your activity! Be at every meeting, attend every training, call when you say you'll call.
2. Attractive people have a little more success. Did you know that statistically attractive people earn at least 10% more than unattractive people. Meaning, dress up from the neck up everyday, exercise daily, take care of yourself, put clothes on vs. our favorite yoga pants. Your appearance drastically effects your mood and mindset.
3. Mindset! Mindset! Mindset! Your decision must trump your emotions and your mindset needs to be a positive one, knowing that you WILL be successful as long as you put the effort forward.

To Your Success!
