Owen's 1st Birthday

It's hard to believe that our little boy is now 1!
We had a blast celebrating with all of Owen's grandparents for his first birthday.
Simple but Perfect!

His birthday invites said "Truck on Over and help us Celebrate" so I thought it was fitting to have a few trucks out.

He LOVED the frosting! Now we can say we officially have a 8 year old, 6 year old, 3 year old and 1 year old!

Toddler Talk

My sister has this cute little link up going on over at her page so I thought I would join in on the fun :)
Basically what you do is ask your toddler these 5 questions, see what their response is and then post it as a way to get your little ones involved in your blogging. Great idea, right?! I'm sharing the words of our Cadence who is our gorgeous 3 almost 4 year old.

1.What are you going to be for Halloween?
"Wizard of Oz and baby Owen is a Tiger"

2.Sing a line from your favorite song.
"Skita marinky dinky dink, skita markinky do, I love you."

3.What is your favorite toy?
"My dede".
(She has always called her blanky her dede).

4. What is your favorite snack?
"Candy"

5. What is your favorite Animal?
"Lucy"
(Lucky is our dog, kinda an easy one).

So hop over and join in on the October Toddler Talk linkup.

It's so hard to believe that a year has passed and to think that I looked like this a year ago, waiting...
 ...for this!
I'm so thankful that we we're blessed with our little guy. I can't imagine our life without him.

How to Pick Perfect Fall Photo Outfits

Fall is HERE! Yay! I love Fall. It's also the time of year when families are looking to get their Family Photos taken. This excites me but also makes me a bit nervous because I am such an indecisive person and have an awful time picking out family photos. We also are a family of 6 so finding matching outfits can be a challenge. So I've been doing some Pinterest searching (ALL OF THE IMAGES FROM BELOW COME FROM PINTEREST) and here's what I found:

1. All of the Outfits don't have to Match.  I mean really that's so 90's, haha. I remember this photo my mom and I had taken with our matching pink pants and western blue/turquoise/pink shirts. I for sure don't want that hanging on my wall.
 2. Lots of Textures. I keep seeing these super cute families and the thing I like is the eye is entertained. Scarves, hats, headbands, layers of clothing, jewelry all work.
 3. Feel Natural. This family totally looks like their out on a stroll (with a professional photographer) on a Sunday afternoon. They look so natural and comfortable. That's a good reminder to me because part of me wonders if we need to pull out the Christmas dresses, But really this look feels so much better.
4. Pick a pop of color in different shades. I like that this family has some purple in their and it all jives together without being too busy. Those simple feathers of color make it all fold together.

9 Steps to Creat a New Blogger Background

First know this, You'll need to have two tabs opened on your browser at the same time to make this process simpler. In your first browser window You'll want to log into the dashboard of your blogger blog and click on the layout tab. I also want to add that these instructions are to change the background on a Blogger blog.
In your second tab you'll want to find a background hosting site that has gobs of cute backgrounds to choose from. I really like www.TheCutestBlogOnTheBlock.com and these images come from that site.
Now head over to the tab you have opened with YOUR blog info.
Once you have clicked the Add a Gadget button you'll see a screen like the one below, scroll down.
 Select the HTML/JavaScript button.
Now hop back over to the tab that has your fun blog background on it. Highlight and copy the HTML code.
Now for the last time you'll go back to your tab with the HTML/JavaScript box open and paste your HTML code in the Content box. I leave my Title box empty, if you put a title in you'll see that it shows up in your blog format when your posting.
Now be sure to Save your work that you've done and you should be sporting your pretty blog background. I've always found directions and great tutorials on the different blog background design sites and there are many out there to choose from.
After all, blogging is about expressing a bit of yourself, might as well have a pretty blog background to represent you as well.
Happy Blogging!

My Kitchen Shelfs

Let me start by saying I LOVE old things! These have been in our garage for a long time. Their old window trim. Aren't they Gorgeous?! I wanted to use them in our house as a shelf. So I did a little sanding and painting and their hanging in our kitchen.
Here's they are in our Kitchen this past spring.
Here they are decorated for our daughter Lilian's 6th Birthday
They purpose almost as a mantle would, easy to decorate and so much character.
And here they are last Fall. Seeing this picture makes me wish I wouldn't have painted my kitchen grey light blue. It was supposed to be grey but who knew it was so hard to match. I'm getting the itch to paint again.
Have a great week!
