Grandparent's Day

Grandparent's Day is just a week away!
Here's a simple yet classy gift to give to those incredible people who so lovingly call themselves grandparents to you and your kids.

I cut two pieces of wood down to size. These are 1x12's  cut to 8 inches. I then drilled holes into the top for the ribbon. Stained the top piece of wood and the bottom was painted with chalk paint. Then I created a design on my Cameo Silhouette and cut it out on vinyl.  Glued a clip on the front along with a cute picture of our kids.

Be Brave

Our MOPS theme for 2014 is to Be You Bravely... and that has gotten me to thinking as we've been planning for this incredible year to come.

Not only thinking about our group and the theme but personally. How am I brave?

I do have to say that becoming a parent has given me strength to be so much braver than I was pre-baby. But I want to instill in my kids that it's ok to be brave even when they are fearful.

Here are a few ways that I AM BRAVE:

1. I BRAVELY run through our sprinkler and run at a little yellow slip in slide to prove to my kids that I CAN do it and so can they.

2. I BRAVELY pray out loud so my kids can hear me speaking to my Father in times of praise and weakness.

3. I BRAVELY encourage others to empower themselves through adventures they never thought possible, something as simple as making a needed phone call to starting their own business.

4. I BRAVELY jump on a horse and let it run as fast as it can. (partly out of braveness and partly out of the love of it).

5. I BRAVELY help sort bulls off from the cows this time of year even though they scare me just a little bit.

6. I BRAVELY befriend someone new, although I'm afraid of rejection.

7. I BRAVELY try new recipes even after failing at a few.

8. I BRAVELY use power tools with a few imperfections.

9. I BRAVELY am an advocate for those around me who I know need me to be strong even when I feel so very small.

10. I BRAVELY love  my children with all of my being with a fierceness that I never knew existed until motherhood.

I AM BRAVE!

M&M Peanut Butter NO-Bake Cookies

It's in the high 90's here today - there's no way I wanted to turn the oven on but the girls wanted to make some cookies. Here's our alternative!  These super yummy No-Bake Cookies that took less than 20 minutes to make.

I found a recipe via. Pinterest but wanted to add a little pizazz and really who doesn't like M&M's?! Here's what you'll need:
1/4 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Milk
2 Cups Sugar
3 Cups Oatmeal
1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
1 tsp. Vanilla
M&M's
Add your top three ingredients together in a pan.
Here is my original recipe I wrote down :)
You'll want to let the butter, milk and sugar boil - a roaring boil to be exact. I let mine boil for a few minutes while scraping the bottom a few times.
Remove from heat and add peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal. Mix well.
Drop by spoon fulls onto wax paper and let cool for 30 seconds before putting M&M's in.

Don't forget to enjoy them with someone you love!

Hey Mom, What You Need To Know About Working From Home: Week 6

Welcome back to our 10 weeks of What You Need to Know about Working from Home! So glad your hanging out with me this morning!

Working from home is a chore - but it's also incredibly rewarding! As with an outside of the home job there are ups and downs, excitement and frustration. Is it worth it? 100% YES!

I'm able to say I've never had to put my kids in day-care, never missed out on a school activity, never had to worry about missing out on a day of work because of a sick kid, never had to deal with angry bosses or deadlines.

That brings me to this week's topic: Your WHY!

It's pretty obvious that my WHY is to be present for my kids and be the one behind the camera taking pictures like these, not the receiving end of a text from someone taking care of my kids.

Here are 5 questions to ask yourself when determining your WHY:
1. Why do I want to work from home?
2. What kind of income do I need each month?
3. What will that do for our family?
4. What will I miss out on if I don't set or reach for my goals?
5. What do I want my life to look like in a year from now?

It's time to take action, put pen to paper and determine Your WHY!

Home Made Pink Flamingo Play-Dough

We made play-dough this past weekend and the girls we're SO excited! I have to say it smells a lot better than the stuff from the store, non-toxic, they can pick the colors of choice and a lot more fun. It also stores well.
Here is my colorful Lilian helping to make hers.
First you'll mix all ingredients in a bowl. This step I let all 3 girls participate in.
Then you heat it on the stove and you'll see that it will start to form a ball.
Once you have taken the heated play-dough off of the stove and let it cool to the touch, then you can manipulate it.
It also makes a great handmade gift! The girls each made a different color, named the color (we had Pink Flamingo, Bright Sky Blue and Awesome Green). You can customize and print labels at http://www.avery.com
Have a great week!

Simple Graduation Gift

It's Graduation Season!
As the grad's are getting ready for a new phase of their lives and to head out to reach their Dreams, it's fun to show your excitement for them in a memorable way. In my opinion those gifts that make you laugh are often the most memorable.
Here's a super simple, affordable and fun Graduation gift that you can put together in minutes. You can partner this with a card and a bigger monetary gift or give it as it is.

Hey Mom, What You Need to Know About Working From Home

Have you ever thought about Working from Home? I think everyone has at some point in their lives. I started working from home in 2007. It's been such an incredible journey and has allowed me to put my kids schedule above mine yet still contribute to our finances.
When I started this crazy journey of working from home I had no idea what I was doing. Keep plugged in through the next 10 weeks to gain some insight in what can help you be successful in Working from Home, no matter what type of business you have.

 Week 1: How to Earn

Before we put the horse before the cart you need to decide How to Earn an income from home. Here are 10 ways to Earn an Income from Home.

10. Etsy Shop
9. Babysitting/Daycare provider
8. Become a Customer Service Agent
7. Become a Virtual Concierge
6. Blog
5. Tutor
4. Gardener/Lawn Care
3. Baker
2. Party Planning Business
1. Consumer Direct Marketing

Obviously you need to be talented in your area of expertise for each of these options. Some businesses require special tools. For example, to be a gardener you would need a lawn mower or pair of clippers. No matter what kind of business your looking at you will always have a start up fee of some sort. I chose to go into the Consumer Direct Marketing industry because it fit all of my personal needs.

As your looking at these options ask yourself these three questions:
      1. Do I feel passionate about it?
      2. Am I educated in this area?
      3. Do I like who I will be working with?

Once you have decided what area you want to direct yourself in it will help you to move forward in the right direction, create a business plan, and start to put action into place.
